Egyptians speak out on US elections
While vacationing in Cairo and Memphis this past April, I was welcomed as an American and embraced as a Black American by all of those whom I engaged. I enjoyed the most amazing dialogue on religion, history, culture, societal norms and politics.
I was shocked to discover how closely they monitored the primaries and hoped for a democratic candidate. Hopes were high that Obama would win the Pennsylvania primary and eventually the White House. Bush's approval rating then in Egypt seemed as low as his now current all time low.
